Step 1 - Colours and fabrics
Before you order your bespoke pattern sample, you need to choose from colours printed onto an actual piece of the fabric that you want to work with.
The colour of the fabric, the fibre content and the fabric weight will all affect the printed result. For example, colours printed onto a natural undyed fabric will appear more muted than those on a bright white base. Colours printed on a very lightweight, semi-transparent fabric will appear softer than on a heavy upholstery fabric.
Once you have received your colour palettes printed onto the correct fabric, you are ready to proceed to step 2.
Colours:
There are 6 colour palettes. Each colour on the palette has a code allocated to it (1 letter and 2 numbers) which you will use in step 2 to order your bespoke colourway. You can buy individual colour palettes (e.g. greens) which are 20x20cm with 42 colours as shown. If you select the group of 6 palettes, they will be printed together on a single piece of fabric and the individual colour squares are all slightly larger.
Fabric choice:
What do you have in mind? For pleated lampshades or lightweight drapes, a semi sheer lightweight fabric would be suitable and we currently offer a lightweight cotton lawn.
If you are looking for a medium weight fabric suited to curtains, blinds, cushions etc, we have a choice between a smooth surface 100% cotton satin weave fabric or a slightly more textured surface cotton with linen mix.
For heavy duty use such as upholstery, we can offer a heavy weight denim weave cotton.
For technical details on all the fabrics offered, please look at the drop down details below.

Fabric fault and printing tolerances
These are the tolerances that our printers work to. It is assumed that you find them acceptable when you proceed with an order:
Dimensions
Fabrics are printed with a tolerance of +/- 0.1mm but environmental factors can shrink or expand fabric after printing. Fabric is considered acceptable if the printed area is accurate within +/- 2%
Faults
Fabrics are inherently susceptible to faults such as loose fibres and surface variation. Fabric is considered acceptable if the printed area contains:
- No more than 5 faults measuring less than 1mm per linear metre
- No more than 1 fault measuring up to 3mm per linear metre
- No faults measuring over 3mm
Unprinted Areas
Faults outside the printed area are considered acceptable.
Reverse
Faults on the reverse of the printed side of the fabric are considered acceptable unless visible from front.
Meta Data
Every order is printed with meta data so we can identify the fabric and process your order. This is printed outside the printed area and considered acceptable.

Orders of 3 meters or more will be delivered on a roll and will either be delivered by DHL courier or Parcelforce. The cost is £18.

Returns
We will refund or replace goods which are faulty. As all items are printed especially for you, we can not accept them back unless there is a fault.
Natural flaws in the fabric such as slubs in the weave are not considered defects. Our fabric printers are proud of their colour accuracy but the depth of colour between print runs may vary slightly due to the natural fibres in the fabrics and this is not considered a defect either. Please order enough fabric in one go to finish your project to avoid this problem.
Please inspect your order upon receipt. Please notify us immediately or within 21 days of receipt, of a problem (do not cut into the fabric as this will invalidate your claim).
To request a return, you can contact me at henrietta@fromthehenhouse.co.uk. Please quote the order number and give details of the fault (attach photos where relevent).
If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
You can always contact us for any return question at henrietta@fromthehenhouse.co.uk.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
If more than 15 business days have passed since we’ve approved your return, please contact us at henrietta@fromthehenhouse.co.uk.
